Changing Lives Robinson Court
Changing Lives support women and girls around experiences where gender, the very fact of being a woman, is significant. This includes those who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual exploitation or have contact with the criminal justice system. Changing Lives York Women’s Wellness Centre

Kyra Women’s Project, York
We are a registered charity in York that exists to help local women make positive change in their lives. We offer a range of courses, therapies, life skills and events for women, from our relaxed, comfortable, city centre location.Support for women in North Yorkshire with Education, Training and Employment challenges
Services dedicated to supporting women and girls with accessing and engaging in education, training, or employment opportunities play a crucial role in helping them transition from prison. These services assist with finding paid and voluntary work, managing unemployment, and navigating the challenges of disclosing criminal convictions to re-enter the job market or educational settings.
Supported Accommodation
Robinson Court in York provides holistic support for women and young people, with the aim of helping people build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Alongside our supported accommodation, we offer support in other areas of people’s lives, such as helping them access health appointments and working towards employment or volunteering. Helping Hand
Our Helping Hand projects is for women who have been involved in the justice system or are at risk of offending. We aim to integrate them into Kyra’s groups and activities, helping them to make positive changes in their lives. We have worked with Askham Grange prison to introduce Kyra to the women there and around 20 have joined Kyra as members. Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) at Changing Lives – Robinson Court
Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) are delivered by specialist women’s organisations working in partnership with Probation to support women to make positive changes, build stability, and reduce the risk of reoffending. CRS provide safe, inclusive, trauma‑informed support for women in the community and in custody. RISE (Reducing Inequalities, Supporting Employment)
RISE helps vulnerable women to overcome the barriers to employment. With access to all of Kyra’s other services and activities, the Key Worker works one-to-one with the participant to identify the issues keeping her from employment or education and agree a pathway of support to overcome these.Support for women in North Yorkshire with Finance, Benefit and Debt challenges
Many women face stress, anxiety, and difficulty related to their finances, benefits, and debt. Specialist services in finance, benefits, and debt management provide essential support, including financial advice, debt relief solutions, assistance with benefit entitlements, and referrals to professional advice and support schemes to help alleviate financial hardship.
My Money, My Life
This project provides Kyra members with expert advice from a financial capability coach on issues of managing money and debt. Members get a one hour, one-to-one appointment, and can book for further appointments if required. Route to Recovery
Route to Recovery, funded by the National Lottery, is a four year programme providing support for women who need to recover from domestic abuse or mental illness. Each woman has a personalised plan to guide her through Kyra’s services, and can receive counselling and join the Freedom Programme as part of the project.Support for women in North Yorkshire with Physical Health & Wellbeing challenges
Maintaining physical health and wellbeing is crucial for women to heal, grow, and thrive. These women’s centres and specialist services are dedicated to helping women and girls build and sustain healthy habits. They offer support in improving fitness, engaging in exercise, practising mindfulness and self-care, ensuring balanced eating and sleeping, and enjoying fulfilling hobbies and activities, all while promoting self-worth.

Behavioural support services are dedicated to empowering women by building their confidence and offering practical tools to address challenges such as social anxiety and relationship issues. These services also aid women and girls in cultivating emotional coping strategies and adopting positive social behaviours.
Counselling
Our counselling service is available to members of Kyra only. We ask members to wait two months before applying for counselling as we have many other courses and activities that may really help to address some issues. Enhancing Self Esteem to Achieve (ESTA)
The ESTA course lasts 10 weeks and helps women re-build their self-esteem which is often very low following domestic abuse, mental illness or isolation. Run by trained volunteers, the group members also support each other to achieve new confidence and self-belief.Support for women in North Yorkshire with Domestic Abuse challenges
Women and girls facing domestic violence and abuse can find crucial support through services designed to address the physical, emotional, financial, and logistical effects of abuse. They offer assistance to survivors of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation, and those involved in or leaving sex work to help them rebuild their lives without fear and intimidation.
