Partnership InformationThe Tower Hamlets’ Prostitution Partnership (THPP) is a multi-agency group meeting convened by Beyond the Streets to hold MARAC-style case management meetings. At meetings professionals from membership agencies share information about women involved in street-based prostitution to provide a holistic support package for her; achieving better outcomes through a coordinated and compassionate responses. The aim of the case management meeting is to tackle the harm faced by women involved in selling or exchanging sex by addressing their safety and support needs. This is alongside a long-term view of enabling those affected to safely exit prostitution.

The Door of Hope project offers hope, support and routes out for women involved in selling sex on-street in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in east London. Door of Hope’s specialist team support women – many of who engage in survival sex – through a combination of street outreach, drop-ins, and specialist daytime support.

Street outreach

Each week trained staff and volunteers go out on the street between 11:30pm and 2am on Friday evenings and 5am and 7am on Thursday mornings. We build trust with the women and raise awareness of our services; alongside distributing hot drinks, food and essentials, providing sexual health support, and sharing information and signposting to other services.

Daytime support

During the day we provide practical support across a range of areas relevant to the women’s lives. We provide information and essential items, advocacy and referrals to specialist organisations and agencies, as well as befriending and mentoring.

Our experienced Women’s Support Workers provide 1:1, in-depth, holistic, trauma-informed support over the long-term. The sessions are a safe space for women to process feelings, learn grounding techniques, and safety plan. We advocate so women can access vital services including suitable housing, mental health support, and drug treatment and recovery. We attend meetings with them and work with multiple agencies to enable the best outcomes; journeying alongside women as they reach their self-determined goals.

Drop-ins (self or agency referral accepted):

Monday 1pm-3pm (alternating between two hostels – residents only)
Thursday 7am – 8.30am (venue disclosed on referral)
Wednesday 2pm – 4pm (venue disclosed on referral)

At the drop-ins we create a safe and relaxed environment and offer mindfulness activities and refreshments. We find women often feel able to open up about engaging in selling or exchanging sex and wanting support with this. We gain referrals into our daytime support service via the drop-ins, but importantly, it enables us to stay in touch with women who aren’t ready to take that step in their journey.

THPP

THPP meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month. Cases, however, need to be referred via email to the THPP Coordinator by Monday at noon the week of the THPP Meeting. We advise you consult the referral criteria included in the referral form to make sure your client meets the criteria.
