Anawim – Birmingham’s Centre for Women offers gender and trauma responsive wraparound support to enable women to reach their potential. We work with more than 2000 women every year through drop-in, counselling, courses, crisis intervention and advocacy.

We have been based in Balsall Heath in Birmingham for 40 years. Our holistic and intensive long-term specialist support, alongside other practical resources, is offered to women in the community and a number of secure settings.

We believe women need access to holistic and tailored support, to progress towards independence, security, and safety and to live lives free from abuse, exploitation, prison, homelessness, and poverty. Anawim works with women towards employment, education, and a brighter future through emotional and life skills support.

Domestic Abuse Services Anawim’s Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor supports women with various types of domestic abuse including financial control, coercive control, psychological and emotional abuse, as well as physical and sexual abuse. Intensive Supervision Court The Intensive Supervision Court is a female-only problem-solving court, a pilot which started in Birmingham in June 2023.
