Alana House – Women’s Community Project

Alana House in Reading is an inclusive and non-judgemental space for women with multiple disadvantages and facing vulnerabilities. The project meets women at their point of need, providing support to enable them to address particular behaviours and assess life circumstances that may have put them in a vulnerable position or at risk of offending.

Support and information is provided in line with nine areas of need. We also run regular groups and courses for service users who have been referred to Alana House.

Alana House aims to:

Address the individual barriers to employment, education and training
Divert women from custody by addressing the causes of crime and therefore reducing the impact on the community

Empower women to reflect on their lives and make a plan to address their needs, increasing their independence and facilitating their access to mainstream services
Provide opportunities to access benefit and welfare advice, NHS sexual health treatment, housing and specialist drug and alcohol advice, in one safe place.

Alana House is an award winning innovative women’s community project run by Parents and Children Together (PACT) charity that uses a holistic approach to support vulnerable women with multiple disadvantages, including ex offenders and those at risk of offending. Alana House won the Howard league for Penal reform “Women’s” category in 2014 & 2017.

Part of the PACT Communities Team, Alana House works alongside Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K) project, which supports children and parents who have previously experienced domestic abuse.
